An exact route I have not yet mapped. I don't like planning. I do know that I'll roughly sail the the 'common' route. This route is relatively safe, convenient and offers a fairly constant wind. And most important: Lots and lots of sunshine Laughing. For non-sailors a 'common sailing route' route to the other side of the world might sound strange to non-sailors, but actually there are lots of people undertaking a long sailing trip. Of course this route is nog mapped to specific countries, places and ports where everyone is simultaneously, but it is a succession of continents that you visit in specific seasons.
I'll sail down south along the coast of Western Europe, perhaps Morocco, Canary Islands, Cape Verde Islands perhaps, then crossing the Atlantic to the Caribbean. Through the Caribbean and/or along the northern coast of South America, through the Panama Canal and then ultimate destination... The Pacific! Galapagos Islands, Marquesas, French Polynesia, Cook Islands, Samoa, Tonga, and finally, Fiji ...
After extensive travels through the Pacific I'm not sure what I will do. I would really like to explore islands in the Northern Pacific. These are islands where hardly anyone comes, where you and I have never heard of (yet) and nature and people are said to be fantastic. But by the time II might be ready to sail there, my money will certainly be long gone. All I'll have left will be the boat, on the other side of the world. One option is to sail to New Zealand or Australia and work in order to save for the continuation of the journey and sail the boat back home via the Northern Pacific, Asia and Africa. Or I sell the boat and fly back to the Netherlands (seems like an option quite impossible for me to do after so much time spent on boardt - I love my boat already). Or who knows I'll find paradise and decide to stay there. No idea. But see above, I do not like planning and commitment. Time will tell ...
